Original Art from Batman Grendel II #1 (1996) Page 7 by Matt Wagner

One of the best visual storytellers in comics, Matt Wagner turns in a beautiful page for the inciting event for his creation's second crossover with the Dark Knight! The Gotham City Museum is hosting an exhibit dedicated to the many villains who have plagued the city over the decades and the centerpiece is the skull of Hunter Rose, the original Grendel. With mobs of protestors gathered outside, Commissioner Gordon and the GCPD are out to keep the peace- though they might need some assistance if say, an enhanced assassin from the future chooses this moment and place to travel back in time! After accidentally killing a thug attempting to take a family hostage and being knocked out by the Joker, Batgirl attempts to lead the only other survivor of the attack to safety. Original Art from Detective Comics #417 (1971) Page 30 Pencils and Inks by Don Heck

A beautifully drawn page that also happens to be a crucial moment in Bat-lore from the great Don Heck! After Batgirl aids an overwhelmed Commissioner Gordon in taking down a group of cop-killing radicals (who were themselves being set up by the mob!), all that's left is for the two definitely-not-related crimefighters to head home. Heck's inking is outstanding here, especially in the close shot of Gordon's face in the the third panel. The most notable thing about this page however is that it reveals that Gordon, through some deductive reasoning worthy of the Dark Knight, has known for a while now that his daughter is Batgirl.
