2nd Edition - 1st printing. Story and art by Craig Thompson. The graphic novel classic, available for the first time in a new Drawn & Quarterly trade paperback edition Blankets is the story of a young man coming of age and finding the confidence to express his creative voice. Craig Thompson's poignant graphic memoir plays out against the backdrop of a Midwestern winterscape: finely-hewn linework draws together a portrait of small town life, a rigorously fundamentalist Christian childhood, and a lonely, emotionally mixed-up adolescence. Under an engulfing blanket of snow, Craig and Raina fall in love at winter church camp, revealing to one another their struggles with faith and their dreams of escape. Over time though, their personal demons resurface and their relationship falls apart. It's a universal story, and Thompson's vibrant brushstrokes and unique page designs make the familiar heartbreaking all over again. This groundbreaking graphic novel, winner of two Eisner and three Harvey Awards, is an eloquent portrait of adolescent yearning; first love (and first heartache); faith in crisis; and the process of moving beyond all of that. Beautifully rendered in pen and ink, Thompson has created a love story that lasts. Hardcover, 592 pages, B&W. Mature Readers Cover price $39.95.

Written and illustrated by Jim Steranko, based on a concept by Byron Preiss. Desperate for a way to reach inner-city students about the dangers of drug abuse and gang activity in a way that would connect with them, teacher Byron Preiss reached out to Jim Steranko in 1970 (inspired by his storytelling in the Nick Fury comic series) with an idea and a pro-bono proposal. Believing in the cause, and in comics' ability to be an impactful format, Steranko accepted the work, and within a year, The Block's first print run was released to schools in Philadelphia, accompanied by a worksheet for teachers to guide student dialogue (not included with any copies offered unless otherwise noted).
Later reprinted as a featured piece in Comixscene (1972) #4, this oversized newspaper-insert style was an educator's response to the burgeoning drug culture of the day. The number of print runs/distribution locations is unknown. 8 pages, approx. 11" x 17", B&W, newsprint. -

1st Edition - 1st printing. Story and art by Eric Drooker. Introduction by Joe Sacco. An inspiring story told in pictures, of three generations unified by hope, promise, and a belief in creative expression. From American Book Award winner Eric Drooker, this is a story for the ages, beginning with the agrarian past, through the industrial present, and into the technological future. A young woman bravely escapes a military assault on her island village, journeying across the ocean to survive, unknowingly, in the Big City. There she meets and falls in love with a saxophone player, who makes heartfelt music. The police find and silence him, confiscating his sax and warning him not to make music again as it's strictly forbidden in the Big City. When the street musician continues to make music with his voice, the police soon find him and imprison him, making the future uncertain for the talented performer and the brave woman who loves him. Blood Song transcends the boundaries or conventional novels -- a wordless tale in the ancient language of pictures. Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 312 pages, full color. Mature Readers Cover price $20.00.
