    Katzenjammer Kids (1947-54) 12 VG/FN 5.0

    Starts Dec 8

After a four-month hiatus, Standard Comics takes over the Katzenjammer Kids comic from pioneering comics publisher David McKay. The original German Bart Simpson x2, the Kids are up to constant mischief, usually directed against the stern authority figures in their lives: their long-suffering Mama, Der Captain (a stranded sailor and their surrogate father), and the schools envoy, Der Inspector. These stories are original to the comic, not reprints from the comic strip. The back cover features an ad for the "Playking Athletic Belt," basically a girdle for chubby kids so they don't get teased during sports - a real sign of its times. 32 pages, Full Color.
