Not as actors, unfortunately, but as stunt performers thanks to their powers...which they aren't supposed to be using. Signed by Moline in the lower margin. Where better to spend Christmas Eve than...the moon?? A great shocker of a splash page as Mantra finds themself teleported to the moon after seeing a vision of Lukasz's face in it. Great composition from Dodson with Mantra's cape sweeping across the page and framing the Apollo lander and earth above it! Speaking of the lander, the top half of the craft was airbrushed out when someone realized that that portion was what brought the astronauts back! Signed by Dodson in lower margin. A great page from this gothic story that finds Christine Palmer, The Night Nurse, approaching a remote mansion in the middle of a rainstorm. Here we get a short recap of Palmer's somewhat tragic history that's led her to accept this mysterious job. Absolutely beautiful work by Mortimer here, especially in the inking on the closeup of Christine in panel three. Pencil and ink on comic art board. 10 1/2" x 16". NOTE: Panels two and three and a portion of panel six have been affixed to the rest of the board with tape and glue on the reverse, likely due to heavy revisions after the initial page was completed.

To save you a Google, no, this is not the true identity of the Black Orchid, but who can complain when the art is this gorgeous? Carillo delivers a lush, detailed page with beautiful figure work and great design- especially on that racing suit. Pencil and ink on art board. 10 1/2" x 16". Ronne Kuhn, an heiress and member of the "Black Orchid Legion", finds herself face to face with the real thing as the real Black Orchid shows up to save the day! Some nice action on this page as the (possibly) real Orchid flings a massive vault door into the sky before it can explode. Pencil and ink on art board. 10 1/2" x 16".

The final appearance of Black Orchid until Blue Devil Annual #1 in 1984 leaves both the cast of the story and readers in the dark about the hero's true identity! In the aftermath of an attempted bank robbery perpetrated by Orchid impersonators, Ronne Kuhn (herself a Orchid impersonator, but a good one) gets to take a bit of the credit for saving the day as the real hero has once again mysteriously disappeared. A dead hero, a perverse sex tape, a former superteam now bitterly feuding- it's the perfect recipe for a case that only Detectives Pilgrim and Walker could handle! Here we see Pilgrim and Walker alongside NYPD Detective Mack attempting to interview former Unity member Ultrabright who has the power to compel men to do her bidding. After Pilgrim makes a crack about her aging body, Ultrabright powers up and suits up and tells the investigators to kick rocks. Signed by Oeming in the second panel. NOTE: This page slightly differs from the printed version. Panels 6 and 7 were replaced, likely to better fit the dialogue (it is a Bendis book after all!). Pencil and ink on art board. 11" x 17".

An absolutely fantastic Shulkie page featuring the Man-Thing! Captured by a mysterious pair of beings and taken to a hidden city built around the fountain of youth that also flattened human emotion, Jen Walters used her legal know-how to convince the society that what they had wasn't truly living. Expelled from the secret hideway, she wanders the swamps of Florida only to find herself in the clutches of the Man-Thing. While Jennifer Walters may know fear, the Savage She-Hulk does not and some green on green violence is imminent! Pencil and ink on Marvel Comics art board. 10 1/2" x 15 3/4".

A fantastic title page splash for this unpublished inventory story with a great image of Heather Hudson, Vindicator, standing tall as she coordinates rescue efforts in the wake of an avalanche. Brigman and Patterson do a neat trick here, slowly dropping detail from the image as the eye moves further 'back' into it, creating a great sense of focus on our hero.
