Screen Stars Magazine was one among many of the supermarket celebrity tabloids that focused heavily on the day to day lives of the Hollywood elite, during the golden-age of cinema. This publication is filled cover to cover with typical fodder such as candid celebrity photos (some of which are in color), gossip columns, reader's letters to the editor, and the latest motion picture advertisements. 8.5" x 10.5", 74 pages, mostly B&W with a few color photos. Vintage monthly published magazine with a focus on the film industry as a whole. First published in November of 1930, publication continued through the late 1970s. Priding itself as a source for exclusive behind the scenes stories about filmmaking, Silver Screen also contained a fair amount of articles about celebrities, their relationships, the latest in fashion, and film reviews. United's anthology featured reprints of early comic strips, including Abbie an' Slats, Captain and the Kids and Nancy. The new format that started with issue #84 allows for larger reprints of Raeburn van Buren's detailed art on "Abbie an' Slats." Slats and Becky finally get married, after years of false starts and missed opportunities. But then Bathless tells them that the "preacher" who married them is actually con man "Bless You" Bailey.
