This story served as a "backdoor pilot" for The Heap, launching a backup series in Airboy featuring comics' original muck-monster adventurer. The Airboy story and cover feature possible art by Flash Gordon's Dan Barry, while the Heap storyline may be the work of mystery novelist Patricia Highsmith, who worked in comics at this time.
