Boris Arson has a knack for escape, and leads Tracy and Pat Patton on a merry chase with the help of cronies like Cutie Diamond and his own sister, Zora Arson.     Cop Called Tracy (1999) 8

    Story and Art by Chester Gould. Reprints of Dick Tracy daily and Sunday comic strips (Chicago Tribune), 1941.03.18-1941.05.10. Mrs. DePool shoots Selbert when he threatens Myrna, her granddaughter. Selbert gets his revenge by killing Mrs. DePool with a poisoned doorbell and setting the house on fire while Tracy is trapped in a basement cistern hideout. Selbert buys a diner, but one of the women hostesses gets suspicious and Selbert drowns her by pushing a car into a river. Selbert sneaks into a parade float to escape, but is double-crossed when the float driver rams the float into a low viaduct. Featuring Dick Tracy, Pat Patton, Selbert DePool, Mrs. DePool, Myrna, Carter and Revol. 32 pages, B&W. Cover price $2.95.

This issue reprints the strips from February 28 – May 21, 1948, featuring the "Mrs. Volts & Sparkle Plenty" story arc. Mrs. Volts deals in stolen electrical parts until she has a run-in with B.O. Plenty, who inadvertently winds up with her beloved dog. She attacks the Plenty family to get her dog back, and winds up in the clutches of her son Brier, who is an even worse criminal. Also featuring a profile of Chester Gould, Matt Mastersons collage of Dick Tracy characters through the years, and an essay on cartoonings Reuben Award.
