The first graphic novel guide to growing a successful vegetable garden, from planning, prepping, and planting, to troubleshooting, care, and harvesting.
Like having your own personal gardening mentor at your side, The Comic Book Guide to Growing Food is the story of Mia, an eager young professional who wants to grow her own vegetables but doesn't know where to start, and George, her retired neighbor who loves gardening and walks her through each step of the process. Throughout the book, "cheat sheets" sum up George's key facts and techniques, providing a handy quick reference for anyone starting their first vegetable garden, including how to find the best location, which vegetables are easiest to grow, how to pick out the healthiest plants at the store, when (and when not) to water, how to protect your plants from pests, and what to do with extra produce if you grow too much.
If you are a visual learner, beginning gardener, looking for something new, or have struggled to grow vegetables in the past, you'll find this unique illustrated format ideal because many gardening concepts-from proper planting techniques to building raised beds-are easier to grasp when presented visually, step by step. Easy and entertaining, The Comic Book Guide to Growing Food makes homegrown vegetables fun and achievable.

Five Centuries of Mixing Drinks and Carrying On
1st printing. Written by David Wondrich. Art and cover by Dean Kotz. A graphic novel history of the cocktail—from prehistoric wassail to our current boozy renaissance—featuring 20 recipes by drinks historian, Daily Beast columnist, and award-winning author David Wondrich. There's no better writer to tell the colorful history of cocktails than David Wondrich, widely considered to be one of the world's foremost authorities on cocktails and a driving force behind the early-twenty-first-century revival in the classic American art of mixing drinks. In The Comic Book History of the Cocktail, Wondrich teams up with comics artist Dean Kotz to trace the evolution of the cocktail. Beginning with the ancient days of wassail and hypocras (mixed drinks based on wine and beer), they narrate a tumultuous and vibrant history that stretches through the Age of Exploration, the boozier parts of the Enlightenment and Americas hurly-burly nineteenth century, to the Disco years, the Cosmo years, and the modern Cocktail Revolution. Kotzs intricate, masterful drawings illustrate stories that have never been properly told and introduce key characters who havent yet received their due. Nearly thirty recipes round out this spirited account, featuring accurate versions of old classics and a generous selection of secret weapons from the mixologists vest pocket. So, settle in with your libation of choice and prepare to meet the good, the bad, and the boozy in this lively and jam-packed tale. Hardcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 176 pages, full color. Cover price $29.99.

Story and art by Mark Crilley.
On her quest to turn her story into a comic book, Emily visits her comic book shop and local comics convention, where she meets three mentors. Trudy, a high school student working on comics of her own, teaches Emily how to create expressive characters and how art can convey action and suspense.
Madeline, a self-published manga artist, teaches Emily how to use panel composition and layout to tell a story visually and how to develop a comic from script to sketch to finished pages. Sophie, a professional graphic novelist, guides Emily through fine-tuning the details of dialogue, sequence, and pacing to lead readers through the story.
Each lesson builds off the previous information and skills presented, and the sequential art format provides the perfect vehicle for step-by-step instruction.

Story and art by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS. Introduction by Paul Dini.
Before ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, before NEW AVENGERS, before SECRET INVASION...Brian Bendis was an award-winning cartoonist, and this scathing Hollywood tell-all was one of his best! Entertainment Weekly gave him an A, Hollywood insiders fell all over themselves to praise him, and fans everywhere gave him a thumbs-up for hilarity.
Now, for its tenth anniversary, Bendis releases his sold-out miniseries FORTUNE & GLORY in color for the first time - featuring colors by Matt Wilson (Phonogram). Marvel once again at the stupidity of Hollywood producers, and the enthralling mood swings and ego nosedives of a little indie comic-book creator caught up in the maelstrom of the motion picture industry.
This deluxe collection features brand-new text pieces by Bendis, and pages and scenes left on the cutting-room floor.

1st printing. Text by David Leopold. Art and cover by Al Hirschfeld. This handsome volume presents 25 favorite Al Hirschfeld portraits drawn from Stephen Sondheims musicals. The art prints in this oversize poster book can be easily removed and framed, making it an ideal gift for Sondheim fans. This first volume in a series of deluxe Hirschfeld poster books contains art drawn from life before the opening night of each of Sondheims productions. On the reverse side are rare, ancillary images from the archives, as well as an introduction by Bernadette Peters, an essay by Ben Brantley, and text by David Leopold, Hirschfelds archivist and creative director of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation. Hirschfelds images capture the essence of the performances even better than the photographs of the shows. All of Sondheims best-known plays are included—West Side Story, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, and Sunday in the Park with George. Al Hirschfeld drew his first Sondheim show in 1957—West Side Story. In his iconic, illustrative style, Hirschfeld captured almost all of Sondheims Broadway shows and several films featuring the composers songs and scripts. Sondheim was a Hirschfeld collector, acquiring drawings directly from the artist and through his friends and collaborators like Hal Prince. In his last interview just five days before his death on November 26, 2021, the New York Times ran a photo of Sondheim in his home with an image of Hirschfelds Putting it Together in the background. All images for this book have been scanned from the archives of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation, ensuring the highest possible quality. Softcover, 11-in. x 14-in., 58 pages, B&W. Turn back the clock with History Comics! In this volume, learn about two brave women who stood up against segregation, setting in motion the Montgomery Bus Boycott!
A Black woman who refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus sparked a bus boycott and became part of one of the most iconic moments in American history. Yet, few know that Rosa Parks had actively worked toward social justice her whole life. And even fewer know that the seeds of the statewide bus boycott were first planted by a teenager named Claudette Colvin, who was arrested on similar charges months earlier. Parks and Colvin inspired a nation, showing how positive change can start with a single defiant act.
Their actions have become the stuff of legend, but there is so much more to their lives, their stories, and the movement they began!

In this volume, learn how millions of bison once roamed the American prairie-until they were nearly driven to extinction.
Turn back the clock to the early 18th century, when the American prairies shook under the hooves of nearly 30 million bison. Fast as a horse, tall as a person, and heavier than both combined, they roamed from coast to coast. A century later, people struggled to find a single one left alive. How did the great herds disappear, and what will it take to bring them back?
