Volume 2 - 1st printing. "January 1942-July 1943!" Collects Stories from Prize Comics (1940-1948) #18-32. Cover by Ben Thompson. Doug Danville was a wealthy New York playboy who decided to fight crime. He put on a costume and began his career as K the Unknown. He later changed his costume and became the Black Owl! Doug got involved with Terry Dane, a private investigator and true to comic-book tradition, she greatly admired the Black Owl and belittled Doug Danville for being useless. Nevertheless he continued fighting criminals as the Black Owl, until he enlisted in the Army and handed down his costume to Walt Walters, the father of Yank and Doodle (more of this later). With a whole host of enemies including Chief Skullface, the Fox, Frankenstein, Funnibone, the Green Mummy, the Tiger Lady, the Laughing Head and the Terrible Midge, among others, the Black Owl had plenty to keep him busy and probably had to do overtime during the day time hours! Hardcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $32.99.
