It's Simply Celestial (1947) was a promotional comic book published by Sealtest Ice Cream. We are introduced to "Ginny, the cutest little trick this side of a dream" (it was a much more innocent time). We soon learn that in order to have lovely hair, beautiful teeth, clear eyes, and fair skin you need the basic foods found in ice cream, and that butter has been proved by scientific research to stimulate the appetite and delight the taste-buds (huh? Butter taste good...what a novel idea), as well as all sorts of other good news about Sealtest products. Definitely a fun read for the entertainment value alone if for nothing else. 24 pages, full color, card stock paper, 5.5-in. x 7.5-in.

It's the Work that Counts: A New Concept of Gasoline (circa 1958) was a promotional comic book published by Johnstone and Cushing and prepared from a study by the Ethyl Corporation. This comic discusses the use of gasoline and how much gas is needed to operate automobiles. It shows that in the 1930s gas was 16.2 cents a gallon and by the time the late fifties rolled around the cost was up to 31 cents pre gallon (kind of puts modern day gas prices in perspective now doesn't it). 8 pages, full color, newsprint, 7-in. x 10-in. with no cover price.

This edition of Johnson Makes the Team was originally an insert released with Practical English Vol. 12, #13. The BF Goodrich promotional insert "Johnson Makes the Team" was published not long after World War II ended, with this version reprinted in 1952. It tells how rubber played a key role in American progress both in times of war and peace. Practical English was a National Magazine of English and the Communication Arts designed for high school students, business, or vocational courses.
