Every strip is covered in depth, including plot details, continuity, points of interest, and analysis. In the world of comics, Joss Whedon created his own dystopian heroine, Fray, assembled the goofy fannish heroes of Sugarshock, and wrote arcs for Marvel's Astonishing X-Men and Runaways. Today, Whedon continues the Buffy and Firefly stories with innovative comics that shatter the rules of storytelling and force his characters to grow through life-altering conflicts.
This collection of essays focuses on Whedon's comics work and its tie-ins with his film and television productions, emphasizing his auteurism in crossing over from panel to screen to panel.

1st printing. Edited and Introduction by David Bushman and Ken Deep. Essays by Shaun Lyon, Joseph Dougherty, Mackenzie, Amanda-Rae Prescott. Scott Ryan, David Bushman, Gina R. Rosich, PhD, MSW, Joshua Lou Friedman, Yee Jee Tso, Paul J. Salamoff, Charlie Williams, Lucy Chase Williams, Amy Krell, Edwin Thrower, Ken Deep, Barnaby Edwards, and Ken Deep. Cover by Blair D. Shedd. "Don't be alone, Doctor," Amy Pond tells the eleventh Doctor in "The Angels Take Manhattan," and of course the irony is that in one sense the Doctor is always alone-a Gallifreyan whose regenerative powers mean he will outlast nearly everyone near and dear to him-while at the same time he is rarely without one or more trusted companion by his side. This is a book about those companions, those fortunate few who accompany him on his journeys through space and time on, to quote the ninth Doctor-"the trip of a lifetime." The editors of The Villains of Doctor Who return with a new anthology of essays to Donna Noble, Sarah Jane Smith, Rose Tyler, Wilfred Mott, Chang Lee, Clara Oswald, and more. Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 212 pages, Text. Cover price $19.99.
