By Joseph Michael Sommers and Kyle Eveleth.
Despite Neil Gaiman's incredible contributions to comics, his work remains underrepresented in sustained fashion in comics studies. The thirteen essays and two interviews with Gaiman and his frequent collaborator, artist P. Craig Russell, examine the work of Gaiman and his many illustrators. The essays discuss Gaiman's oeuvre regarding the qualities that make his work unique in his eschewing of typical categories, his proclamations to "make good art," and his own constant efforts to do so however the genres and audiences may slip into one another.
The Artistry of Neil Gaiman forms a complicated portrait of a man who has always seemed fully assembled virtually from the start of his career, but only came to feel comfortable in his own voice far later in life.
Contributions by Lanette Cadle, Züleyha Çetiner-Öktem, Renata Lucena Dalmaso, Andrew Eichel, Kyle Eveleth, Anna Katrina Gutierrez, Darren Harris-Fain, Krystal Howard, Christopher D. Kilgore, Kristine Larsen, Thayse Madella, Erica McCrystal, Tara Prescott, Danielle Russell, Joe Sutliff Sanders, Joseph Michael Sommers and Justin Wigard.

By D.A. Stern.
IN OCTOBER 1994, THREE STUDENT FILMMAKERS DISAPPEARED IN THE WOODS NEAR BURKITTSVILLE, MARYLAND, WHILE SHOOTING A DOCUMENTARY... FIVE YEARS LATER, THE FILM THEY SHOT BECAME ONE OF THE MOST PROFITABLE MOTION PICTURES IN HISTORY.
People across America were stunned by the runaway success of "The Blair Witch Project" - none more so than the residents of Burkittsville. Suddenly the little western Maryland farming village was flooded with tourists seeking mementos of the fabled Blair Witch. Road signs disappeared, backpackers clogged local hiking trails, graveyards filled with enthusiasts trying for a firsthand glimpse of the supernatural. While most Burkittsville residents - in particular Sheriff Ron Cravens - were angered by this wave of visitors, others took a more pragmatic approach. Like Jeff Patterson, who started up a business called the Blair Witch Hunt. At first, Patterson simply sold caps, T-shirts, and coffee mugs over the Internet. Then he decided to lead a group of four tourists into the Black Hills himself.
If you saw the film "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, " you know what happened to Jeff Patterson, Kim Diamond, Stephen Ryan Parker, Tristen Ryler, and Erica Geerson. BUT YOU ONLY KNOW HALF THE STORY UNTIL YOU READ THIS BOOK.

1st printing. Hermes Press continues its long association with the original Gothic suspense television series "Dark Shadows" with the publication of the first-ever photographic art book devoted to the cult favorite which made sympathetic vampire Barnabas Collins a household name. Dark Shadows debuted June 27, 1966 on ABC-TV as the first daytime drama styled in the tradition of a Gothic novel. The show was the dream of producer Dan Curtis, who brought an exciting new format to the weekday schedule of standard fare soap operas. The pages in the volume feature images shot in black-and-white, spanning the series earliest days – before ghosts and vampires, when Dark Shadows most closely resembled a 1940s noir film – through its final episodes. As the series took a more fanciful direction, many of the plots retained an underlying tension and tone faithful to its origins, serving up a special hybrid... Dark Shadows NOIR. Featuring 256 pages, DARK SHADOWS NOIR features stunning full-page mono-chromatic images from the legendary television program, including dozens of previously unseen images from the archive of "Dark Shadows" creator Dan Curtis Productions. For 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" thrilled over 20 million viewers during its five-year run with imaginative stories devoted to hidden mysteries, lost loves, time travel and supernatural characters. Late creator-executive producer Dan Curtis drew upon classic mystery, horror and romance tales ranging from "Jane Eyre" and "The Crucible" to "Wuthering Heights" to "Turn of the Screw" to enthrall captivated audiences. The ground-break sets, elaborate costumes and atmospheric lighting depicted on the series will be on stunning display in DARK SHADOWS NOIR with all images scanned in high resolution from original 35mm negatives and vintage fiber prints for rich CMYK reproduction of superior quality. DARK SHADOWS NOIR will serve as the ultimate souvenir for the 60th anniversary of "Dark Shadows" which continues to remain extremely popular via streaming services, televised reruns, DVD and BluRay releases, new merchandising and fan conventions. Hardcover, 10-in. x 11-in. 256 pages, B&W. Cover price $65.00.
