1st printing. "A Memory!" By Will Eisner. Dark Horse is proud to present the newest graphic novel by Will Eisner, one of comics' pioneers and inarguably the medium's first "maverick" creator! Last Day in Vietnam is Eisner's memoir of stories about soldiers who are engaged not only in the daily hostilities of war but also in larger, more personal combat. During Eisner's years in the military, and particularly during the many field trips he made for P.S. Magazine, he observed camp life at close range. Some of the stories in this novel are comical, some heartrending, some frightening, yet all display the incredible insight into humanity characteristic of Eisner's entire oeuvre. The first edition of this graphic novel will feature a full-color cover painted by the artist, with a matte and spot-gloss finish, interior cover flaps, and special sepia-colored ink printed on high-quality antique paper. Story and art by Eve Gilbert.
Scott Camil grew up in the 1960s wanting to fight for his country. After graduation, Camil joins the Marines and is sent to Vietnam. There he encounters the incompetence of his superiors, the constant death of his friends, the rape and slaughter of Vietnamese women and children, eventually turning him into a ruthless killer. Upon his return to civilian life, Camil adopts a new cause: telling the American people the truth about Vietnam.
Eve Gilbert illustrates Camil's words with empathy, nuance, and the occasional splash of humor. It's a cautionary tale whose arc of suffering and transformation is just as relevant today.

1st printing. Story and art by JOE KUBERT. Joe Kubert, one of the most influential storytellers in comics history, tells the harrowing, true story of a detachment of Special Forces soldiers on a simple recon mission into the village of Dong Xoai, Vietnam, that turned suddenly deadly. DONG XOAI, VIETNAM 1965 has a unique perspective, since Kubert based the story on extensive information gathered from the surviving members of the unit. It covers not only the action of the event but the details of deployment and build-up that led to the deadly encounter for these young American G.I.s. For decades, Joe Kubert has shown readers the true face of war - all the suffering, horror, loss and heroism of our fighting forces. With DONG XAOI, he goes a step beyond to tell a gut-wrenching tale of sacrifice that will linger long after you are done reading. Hardcover, 200 pages, full color. Cover price $24.99.

1st printing. Written by George Ryan. Art and cover by Eve Gilbert. Plucked from his workaday youth as an Irish-American kid from Brooklyn, Ryans military deployment to Vietnam begins in 1966 with shiftless excursions into women, booze, and reefer. As he wades ever deeper north, his cavorting is replaced by an unceasing violence. The amorality of war, and specifically this war, is laid bare. Eve Gilberts nakedly primitive drawing perfectly reflects Ryans own naivete, filled to the brim with acerbic commentary and pitch-black humor. Images overflow with blood and dissidence, dripping with rage for the injustice done to the young men made grist for the war machine. Ultimately, My Year in Vietnam is a story of triumph and humanity, of men rising against their countrys worst impulses. Ryans greatest act of resistance becomes his life, proving that the men who fought these wars can be more than weapons and fodder, but activists and paragons and fathers and grandfathers; thinking, feeling, beating hearts. Softcover, 8-in. x 10-in., 136 pages, PC/PB&W. Mature Readers Cover price $30.00.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "Leaving Saigon!"
Story and art by Clement Baloup.
Colonialism and war disrupted the lives of millions of Vietnamese people during the 20th century. These are their stories. In his award-winning work, Vietnamese Memories, Clément Baloup chronicles, through vivid painted art and poetic storytelling, the fate of a handful of people who, like many of their peers, were condemned to leave a country successively occupied by the Japanese, the French and the Americans. Leaving Saigon recounts the experiences of Vietnamese citizens who, through different circumstances and different periods, ended up in various parts of France. These stories are testimonials of courage and endurance in the face of turmoil and displacement.

1st printing. Story and art by Thien Pham. Originally posted on Instagram, this young adult graphic novel details the author's childhood immigration to America with his family, through the lens of particularly meaningful food and meals. Thien's first memory isn't a sight or a sound. It's the sweetness of watermelon and the saltiness of fish. It's the taste of the foods he ate while adrift at sea as his family fled Vietnam. After the Pham family arrives at a refugee camp in Thailand, they struggle to survive. Things don't get much easier once they resettle in California. And through each chapter of their lives, food takes on a new meaning. Behind every cut of steak and inside every croissant lies a story. And for Thien Pham, that story is about a search - for belonging, for happiness, for the American dream! Softcover, 6-in. x 8-in., 240 pages, full color. Cover price $17.99.

From its beginnings in the Colonial War with France in the 1940s and 50s, through to the final evacuation of Saigon in 1975 and beyond, each chapter of Rolling Thunder in a Gentle Land: The Vietnam War Revisited focuses on a different aspect of the Vietnam War. Officers from both the NVA and ARVN take a first-hand look at the strategy and tactics of both sides and give critical assessments of where the war went wrong; Le Ly Hayslip provides a harrowing account of life for the typical South Vietnamese civilian caught up in the war. Acclaimed historians and journalists, such as Bernard Edelman and Arnold Isaacs, take a critical look at the many aspects of the war from the river war and the air war through to the strategy and doctrine used by the US forces. The Battle of Hamburger Hill took place May 13-20, 1969 and was fought by U.S. Army and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) forces against the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) of North Vietnam during Operation Apache Snow. The hill had little strategic value but U.S. command ordered its capture by a frontal assault. Upon capture by U.S. forces the hill was soon abandoned, falling back into North Vietnam hands. The action caused a controversy both within the American military and back home with the public.
