Tags: Golden age reprints, The SpiritPublished Nov 2024 by PS Artbooks.$46.00
Volume 3 - 1st printing. "Summer 1947 - Summer 1948!" Collects The Spirit (1944-1950 Quality) #9-12. Written by Will Eisner. Art by Will Eisner and Lou Fine. Cover by Will Eisner. The Spirit is a fictional masked crime fighter created by cartoonist Will Eisner, who fights crime with the blessing of the city's police commissioner Dolan, an old friend. Despite the Spirit's origin as detective/criminologist Denny Colt, his real identity was rarely referred to after his first appearance, and for all intents and purposes he was simply "The Spirit." The stories are presented in a wide variety of styles, from straight forward crime drama and noir to lighthearted adventure, from mystery and horror to comedy and love stories, often with hybrid elements that twisted genre and reader expectations. Comic book stories from the 1940s and 1950s may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American culture. While not representing the publisher's view of today's society, these stories are printed as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Hardcover (with Slipcase), 208 pages, full color. Cover price $62.99.

Published Nov 2024 by Fantagraphics.$46.00
Includes Vol. 1-3 (with Slipcase) - Printings May Vary. Story and art by Jacques Tardi. The complete three-part saga of French comics master Jacques Tardi's gripping and humane biographical portrait of his father's life as a soldier during WWII. When French tank crewman René Tardi was captured by the Germans on May 22, 1940, his life was forever changed. He is shipped off to a P.O.W. camp, Stalag IIB, where he endures a brutal day-to-day existence for nearly five years. Once the war winds down, he faces a long, grueling journey back to France, buoyed only by the vision of his wife Henriette awaiting him at home. The final act finds René struggling to adapt to civilian life, begrudgingly re-enlisting, and returning to Germany to help rebuild the country that imprisoned him. In THE COMPLETE I, RENE TARDI, P.O.W., cartoonist Jacques Tardi vividly renders his father's harrowing story, a story enriched with his own childhood memories. Both an homage to his father and a testament to the silent suffering of a generation of men scarred by war, Tardi's graphic novel trilogy is a personal and artistic triumph. This box set also features a slew of fascinating contextual features, including reference photographs, excerpts of René's notebooks, and several illuminating essays. Hardcover (3 Volumes with Slipcase), 9-in. x 12-in., 528 pages (Total), B&W. Cover price $99.99.

Get ready to hit the road again with Dean and Sam as they prowl the highways and byways of small-town America in search of demonic wrongdoing to put right! Set between the foundational first and second seasons of the landmark television series, this brand-new title from acclaimed author GREG PAK (Darth Vader, Lilo & Stitch) and preternaturally gifted artist EDER MESSIAS (Sam Wilson: Captain America) brings readers back to where the dark magic first began — and reveals a disturbing new threat that the bickering brothers will have to face before they can return to hunting down the demon who killed their mother.t In this first issue, the monster hunters must uncover the entity responsible for a series of mysterious fires in a decaying rust belt town — attacks that begin with a Windler Industries factory burning down, and then escalate to several Windler employees themselves going up in flames. But finding the malevolent force behind the otherworldly arsons may not be as straightforward as it might seem — especially once the suspiciously well-prepared CEO Steff Windler gets personally involved!
