Carl Barks Comics and Stories Original Art Edition HC (2023-2025 Kim Weston Books) 2-1ST VG/FN 5.0

    Starts Nov 2

Volume 2 - 1st printing. Text by Kim Weston. Stories and art by and Carl Barks. This volume prints 13 complete large, four-tier Carl Barks stories in their original, full-size black-and-white format - one full page of art on each page of the book! These 13 stories of the combined Barney Bear & Benny Burro feature were originally published in Our Gang Comics #11-23, and another volume - containing the rest of the stories, from Our Gang Comics #24-36 - is planned for next year, yielding Barks' Complete MGM art in 3 volumes! This second volume measures 18" wide and 26" tall and weighs in at about 8 pounds! Looking at these pages as printed in this book is like looking at the pages fresh from the master's drawing board! The stories from are printed one art page to the book page, with a live image size of 16" x 23 1/4" - the size that Barks drew almost all his original art at, beginning in December 1943 until he retired in 1966, with only very rare exceptions. These pages are printed from proofs which are derived from the 7" x 10" photo negatives taken of the original art between December 1943 and December 1945. Looking at the stories in this book really is like looking at pages of Barks' original art because Barks didn't make many mistakes that needed correction in his art. His main use of white ink was not to correct errors, but to delineate details in black on black images or add pie cuts to the ducks' eyes. Hardcover, 18 1/4-in. x 25 3/4-in., 108 pages, B&W. Cover price $220.00.

Our gal Catwoman is turning 80 next year (and looking very good, if we meow say), and DC is celebrating with nothing less than a huge soiree, invite only, packed with creators who mean the most to her and to whom she means the most! Stories featured in this 100-page spectacular include a tail -- sorry, tale -- that takes place at the end of the Brubaker/Stewart Catwoman run, in honor of artist Darwyn Cooke. Also, Catwoman is caught by an exotic cat collector, runs into a wannabe thief trying to prove himself as her apprentice, encounters a mystery involving memorabilia from alternate continuities, and of course some Bat/Cat fun. Featuring: "Skin the Cat" by Paul Dini, Emanuela Lupacchino and Mick Gray; "Now You See Me" by Ann Nocenti, Robson Rocha and Daniel Henriques; "Helena" by Tom King and Mikel Janin; "The Catwoman of Earth" by Jeff Parker and Jonathan Case; "A Cat of Nine Tales" by Liam Sharp; "Little Bird" by Mindy Newell and Lee Garbett; "Born to Kiln" by Chuck Dixon, Kelley Jones and Danny Miki; "Conventional Wisdom" by Will Pfeifer and Pia Guerra; "Addicted to Trouble" by Ram V and Fernando Blanco; and "The Art of Picking a Lock" by Ed Brubaker and Cameron Stewart.
