From award-winning writer Gary Reed and comic book illustrator Charles Yates comes an extraordinary look at World War One and the anguish and horrors French soldiers faced on the battlefield as they squared off against an advancing Imperial German Army.
Fought like no war before it, the European powers saw this "Great War" as an opportunity for quick glory and territorial gain. But instead. they soon found themselves engaged in a new form of trench warfare that dragged on for four bloody years and saw millions of soldiers needlessly killed on both sides.

1st printing. Art Spiegelman defined the graphic novel memoir with his Pulitzer Prize-winning MAUS, which narrated his father's experiences in Auschwitz. Growing up with Holocaust survivor parents, he was taught that no place is truly safe. Spiegelman finally experienced that truth for himself on 9/11, as he and his wife raced to find their daughter, attending her first day of school two blocks away from the World Trade Center. The fragmented nature of the art and text reflect the scattered, painfully vivid thoughts that Spiegelman had both during and after those traumatic moments. The oversized, full-color spreads include panels drawn realistically, drawn MAUS-style (i.e., Spiegelman depicts himself as a mouse), and drawn in the style of early 20th century comics such as the Katzenjammer Kids and Bringing up Father. Those early comics were a comfort to Spiegelman during the terror and paranoia he felt (and still feels) post-9/11, and the book closes with a short history and reprints of those comics, which seem startlingly relevant to the current political situation. Edited and Introduction by Jessica Baldanzi and Hussien Rashid.
Though the Marvel-verse is becoming much more racially, ethnically, and gender diverse, many of these comics remain shy about religion. The new Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan, is a notable exception, not only because she is written and conceived by two women, Sana Amanat and G. Willow Wilson, but also because both of these women bring their own experiences as Muslim Americans to the character.
This distinct collection brings together scholars from a range of disciplines to engage with a single character, exploring Khan's significance for a broad readership. With essays from and about diverse voices on an array of topics from fashion to immigration history to fandom, this volume includes an exclusive interview with Wilson by gender studies scholar Shabana Mir.
Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 256 pages, Text (with B&W Illustrations).
Featuring Contributions by J. Richard Stevens, Martin Lund, Hussein Rashid, Sika A. Dagbovie-Mullins, Eric Berlatsky, Jessica Baldanzi, A. David Lewis, Peter E. Carlson, Antero Garcia, Winona Landis, Kristin M. Peterson, Aaron Kashtan, Nicholaus Pumphrey, José Alaniz and Shabana Mir.

1st Printing. Written by Osamu Dazai, and Junji Ito. Art and cover by Junji Ito. "Mine has been a life of much shame. I cant even guess myself what it must be to live the life of a human being." Plagued by a maddening anxiety, the terrible disconnect between his own concept of happiness and the joy of the rest of the world, Yozo Oba plays the clown in his dissolute life, holding up a mask for those around him as he spirals ever downward, locked arm-in-arm with death. Osamu Dazais immortal—and supposedly autobiographical—work of Japanese literature, is perfectly adapted here into a manga by Junji Ito. The imagery wrenches open the text of the novel one line at a time to sublimate Yozos mental landscape into something even more delicate and grotesque. This is the ultimate in art by Ito, proof that nothing can surpass the terror of the human psyche! Hardcover, 5 1/2-in. x 8-in., 616 pages, B&W. Mature Readers. Cover price $34.99.
